The Annual Torchlight Parade, Thursday evening, 13 December in Carlisle. There is always a fantastic festive atmosphere here, with lots of people out on the street. Organised by Carlisle City Council, it involves a short parade from the Cathedral where there is a carol service to the ‘over the top’ Christmas installation in the city centre.
We played our own versions of Slade’s Merry Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Last Christmas, and Christmas Wrapping. Our band was joined by the samba group from Nelson Tomlinson School in Wigton, organised by Deb. We had our fantastic blue and silver costumes from our ‘Vanguard’ show and had made bodysuits to give a bit of extra protection from the cold.
The band were really good with about forty musicians, and the dancers were well rehearsed and full of energy. The Christmas Fairy costume with its big wings didn’t fit down the narrow alleyways of Carlisle very easily, but it all added to the fun.To go to the BBC website to view more pictures of the Carlisle Torchlight Parade click here

..In my opinion, one of our best performances !
….the band sounded really good, dancing was great, costumes were excellent – all due to the hard work of Julie, Liz, and Doug.
It was a very enjoyable evening – I was proud to be part of it.
